A few bids are on the table in parts of Kansas. Some early asking prices 
have been noted in parts of Kansas and Texas at $185-plus, but all other 
areas have yet to be established. Significant trade volume will likely be 
delayed until Wednesday or later.  

Today's slaughter totaled 128,000 head, 1,000 more than last week, but 
1,000 below a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply lower on both live 
(off 85 to 285) and feeder (off 127 to 582) contracts. Beef cutouts are 
expected to close mixed with moderate to good box movement.
